A glissando comes from the French verb for “to glide” — meaning a rapid sliding up or down the musical scale. No doubt you've seen a nuthatch slide up and down the trunk of a tree! Nuthatch Glissando is part of a series celebrating the life of birds that frequent our garden feeders. The chickadee, nuthatch and goldfinch are familiar and beloved species for most of us in the Western States. In honor of the joy this winged-trio brings through their songs and playful antics, I’ve given each a musical title.
